I am going to give you a brief history of my family, I am not a big fan of the entire history of my family. Personally I believe that my life is what I make it out to be not what my history was.
My mothers side of the family immigrated from England in the mid 1850's with the exception of a German born great grandfather.
My dads side of the family also immigrated in the mid 1850's but they were from Ireland. My fathers mothers side moved to the Philippines were there children were born including my grandmother, who passed away my senior year of high school. I remember because I was with my father at the doctor for a spine checkup when he got the call that she had passed.

The Roosas or my fathers side has a cousin or something many distant people away who became an astronaut and circled the moon. They were in the colony or city of New Amsterdam (New York). They came over on a boat called the Spotted Cow.
That's kinda the history of my family. We don't particularly follow any cultural norms from our original countries as far as I can tell, maybe go a little more into St. Patties day, but that's about it.
