I am tired of hearing everything about how racism is bad and we need to treat each other as equals, I am going to go with a new approach. I will be taking the stand that racism is actually in some ways a good thing. Racism is based on the idea that people identify differences. I want you to think about a book where everyone is exactly the same and hence there is no racism. Well too late I have one it is a classic book The Giver by Louis Lowry. In this book the idea is that they have no differences, all characters are differentiated by very few factors; male, female, and job. This creates the problem that no one has any thoughts or memories and history repeats itself. Is it saying that racism is the solution to remembering the past, think of the Koreans part of their identity is hating the Japanese. Is it wrong to say that a racist past provides a racist future, I think that their is an idea that a racist past will provide a brighter future. I think strongly that racism is something that we as a community look back on and move forward from.
TJ,
ReplyDeleteI think what you might be asking is the difference between racism and tribal identity. I think there are times when tribal identity is racism.
