Personal Thoughts

For me personally, I don't know why, but I'm more drawn to learning about Chinese Americans and Japanese Americans than I am about the other Asian cultures, especially the Filipino Americans. I find this a little interesting, especially as the Filipinos are considered the "invisible minority." I don't know if this is because I relate more to the other literature than I do to Filipino literature, or I just find the subject matter more interesting. I think that maybe because I grew up in the Bay Area and had many more Japanese and Chinese friends, I can relate more to that culture because I have more background knowledge, and I find learning about it in depth more interesting.
